Scott Summy - Willow Valley Management, Inc., Director, Special Projects and New Business

Scott Summy has spent most of his working career at Willow Valley and recently achieved the 35 year milestone. His career in hospitality began while working at the Willow Valley Inn and Resort where he had the opportunity to learn the true art of hospitality from the Thomas family. It was this experience that fostered his passion of customer service. To see the delight and joy on the faces of the customer when they received great service was very gratifying and energizing. After joining the Willow Valley Retirement Communities in 1984 with the opening of Willow Valley Manor he served as the Manager of Dining Services responsible to develop the dining program for our Residents. In 1986 came the building of the Lakes Manor community and the Manor North community in 1992. Each community had its own unique dining programs that he was involved with creating. Ultimately the dining program served more than a million meals a year in total.

The continued growth of the Willow Valley Retirement Communities organization provided him the opportunity to expand his responsibilities and to serve as the Executive Director for the Manor Campus for 13 years. This experience gave him a greater appreciation for working directly with Residents and their families, as together with the support of the Willow Valley team they navigate through changing health needs. It has also been very rewarding learning from our Resident’s vast knowledge and life experiences that they have shared from their working careers. Working in the Willow Valley Retirement Communities for as many years as he has, allows him the privilege of knowing the operation of the communities inside and out. This knowledge has been beneficial to my current role of expanding the reach of our Mission to Home and Community based services and pursuing new business opportunities to better serve our customers.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Leading Age PA, the state association for not-for-profit retirement communities. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Lancaster Area Senior Services. He also serves on the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce Executive Forum for Aging Services Providers.

He and his wife have 3 children. They attend LCBC Church in Lancaster. They enjoy attending sporting events, particularly basketball, and spending family time on the weekends either boating on the Chesapeake Bay or time in Ocean City, New Jersey.
