The primary reason that the Rightmires moved to Willow Valley was the Lifecare contract. They expressed that most people don't know this type of continuing care exists. “Once people know what Lifecare is all about, they want to move here even before visiting Willow Valley Retirement Communities. Lifecare just provides a tremendous value for seniors.”  

And, compared to other places in Maryland, Willow Valley located in Lancaster, Pa provides greater value for price paid. Maryland has a much higher cost of living and that extends to most of the retirement communities located there. Lancaster provides a high-value environment with all the same amenities. 

One very obvious advantage for the Rightmires was that their pensions are taxed in Maryland but not in Pennsylvania. That was a big deal for the Rightmires. Whitney explains, “We prepared our taxes for the first time since we moved to Pennsylvania, and we were surprised because we never knew that we would be saving so much!”

They enjoy the environment which they consider very open and friendly. This welcoming atmosphere was unique to them because they didn't find this at other retirement communities that they visited in Maryland. 

Activities are abundant. There are over one hundred activities, groups, and clubs where residents can explore their passions or discover new ones. The Rightmires love the Cultural Center especially the Performing Arts Theater, something that was not matched by any of the other places.
